Verizon's iphone - Why I won't be getting one.

The Verizon iPhone 4 is a 3G device, and Verizon’s CDMA wireless network is a bit outdated and slow.  If you have been getting a decent signal where you live on AT&T, whose 3G network is capable of better performance than Verizon’s, you will probably see a slowdown.

CDMA splits the voice and data networks, which means there is no simultaneous voice and data calls.  Now when you are on a call with AT&T, you can put it on hold and surf the net or look up other info, on Verizon’s iPhone you can’t.

Verizon getting iPhone 1-11-11 @ 11?

Finally the rumors seem to be coming to fruition. The media event tomorrow morning even has a very special guest..Steve Jobs maybe? I m in a contract till the summer with AT&T, but will probably switch to Verizon then. My signal at home is worse than terrible. Rest of family members have no signal problems with Verizon in the house, regardless of the handset.

The Wall Street Journal said the following:

Verizon Wireless, the country s largest wireless carrier, is confident enough in its network that it will offer unlimited data-use plans when it starts selling the iPhone around the end of this month, a person familiar with the matter said. Such plans would provide a key means of distinguishing its service from rival AT&T Inc., which limits how much Internet data such as videos and photos its customers may use each month.

Why stay with AT&T?

Can't wait to dump my AT&T contract for Verizon - iphone rumors getting louder

It seems that Verizon’s advertising partner is rumored to be working on iPhone campaign.

Rumors of a Verizon iPhone arriving this summer continue to surface, with CrunchGear claiming Landor Associates, which handles Verizon’s branding, is working an advertising campaign regarding Apple’s next-generation handset.

Author John Biggs simply cited a “tipster” in Tuesday’s report, which said that Landor Associates are “hard at work” in preparation for the fourth-generation iPhone. The report said Brad Scott, senior director with Landor, is believed to be in charge of the team.

“Because Landor focuses a bit more on branding — they, for example, created the dual-B logo for Blackberry — don’t expect TBWA, Apple’s current iPhone agency, to get pushed out when it comes to TV advertisements,” the report said.

Biggs went on to say that the rumor “very nearly confirms” a Verizon iPhone “at the end of the summer.”

New Apple Gizmos Coming Exclusively to Verizon?

For those who switched to AT&T from Verizon in anticipation of the iPhone, now may be the time to switch back. According to two anonymous sources speaking to Business Week, Apple and Verizon may release two new Verizon-exclusive iPhone-like products as early as this summer. The rumors go hand-in-hand with recent talk that the iPhone is coming to Verizon, and that Apple has new devices up its sleeve for the summer.

One device seems like it’ll be the closest we’ll ever get to the iPhone Nano: a smaller, less expensive iPhone. The iPhone Lite, as it’s being called, is smaller and thinner than the existing iPhone and will come cheaper because it “relies on a so-called system on a chip, which incorporates many types of chips and drives down the cost of silicon in such devices.”
