Apple has released a third beta of the upcoming iPhone 3.0 operating system, build 7A280f. The company has advised of compatibility issues, although any significant changes to the interface or features will likely be reported after developers have a chance to take a closer look at the OS. “Applications targeting devices prior to iPhone OS 3.0 beta cannot be tested in this seed,” a note read. “This bug is intended to be fixed in a future seed.” Along with the OS 3.0 beta, the company updated the SDK build. The Interface Builder 3.1 provides new drag-and-drop functionality and an enhanced document-outline view optimized for drag re-ordering. A string table interface allows users to quickly change text across several documents.
The Xcode IDE 3.1 update offers a revamped interface designed to easily create “New Target,” “New File” and “New Target” resources. The release also includes new assistant templates, an Overview toolbar, global override options and new interface shortcuts.
