The new Macbook pro can boot from SD card

This is something that could come in handy. You could clone your OSX install disc to the SDHC card and voila!
Can I install Mac OS X on an SD storage device and use it as a startup volume?
Yes. Change the default partition table to GUID using Disk Utility, and format the card to use the Mac OS Extended file format to do so.

Apple has already begun shipping the new MacBook Pro models launched on Monday at the WWDC keynote. Both of the new 13-inch models are shipping within 24 hours from Apple’s online store, along with the 2.53GHz and 2.66GHz 15-inch variants, while the 2.8GHz 15-inch MacBook Pro is expected to ship within 1-2 business days. The updated 17-inch model is also available in the 24-hour timeframe.
