iTunes 8.2, QuickTime 7.6.2 updates

Apple has published updates for two of its main media playback utilities, iTunes and QuickTime. The most crucial is iTunes 8.2, which introduces support for the yet-to-be-released iPhone 3.0 firmware.  Also addressed in the download are unspecified bug fixes and accessibility improvements.

QuickTime 7.6.2 enhances compatibility with Apple’s ProRes video format, and is also necessary for full compatibility with iTunes 8.2. Several security vulnerabilities are addressed for Mac OS X 10.4.11 and 10.5.7 systems, as well as those with Windows Vista or XP Service Pack 3. QuickTime is a 60.3MB download, while iTunes comes in at 79.3MB.
